Kyle Dincler and John Reeves established the Mt. Carmel FIRE after discussing their previous experiences with two different area semi-pro teams.
During their time with the other organizations, both men were presented with many opportunities for ministry. It was common for teammates and coaches to inquire about beliefs and why they thought or behaved in certain ways. Through this, both were able to share testimonies, develop personal relationships, invest in men’s lives, offer guidance and wisdom, and speak openly on Biblical truths and salvation through JESUS CHRIST.
As exciting as these opportunities were, the commitments the two men made made to play came at a cost. Kyle and John were sacrificing areas of their personal ministries and priorities. In light of all this, both desired a greater spiritual return on their investments than what they experienced.
The men realized that playing football could no longer be a self-centered endeavor. Their own enjoyment and self-gratification were not good enough justifications. It would have to encompass and support a greater part of each man's personal ministry, or not happen at all. The best way to do this was to build a CHRIST-centered, ministry-minded organization from the ground up.
Kyle Dincler explained, "This is about so much more than football. Do I want the FIRE to be the best team around? Yes! Do I love playing football? Yes! But can I commit so much of my time and energy to something that, in the end, is only about me and my enjoyment? No. So this thing that I've gotten back into, it can’t be just about football. It has to be a part of my personal ministry. It has to help me make a difference for CHRIST. And that is why the Mt. Carmel FIRE Organization exists today."
"We love the idea of being an active member in the community, and we are eager to make an impact in the surrounding Cincinnati area," added General ManagerJohn Reeves. "We look forward to what God is going to do with this team!"
